SA REMAINS AFRICA’S TOP PICK FOR FOREIGN INVESTORS

SA is still the most attractive financial market for international investors in Africa, according to the Absa Africa financial markets index.

The country remained in the top position for the second year running with a score of 93 out of 100, supported by strong financial market infrastructure and a robust legal framework.

Despite this, the report warns that SA’s macroeconomic performance deteriorated in the past year as it plunged into recession for the first time since the global financial crisis, exposing SA to “rising financial risks”.

Expansion follows a successful pilot in South Africa which reduced rhino poaching incidents by 96%

South Africa, Johannesburg – 10 May 2018 – Global technology giants, Dimension Data and Cisco, today announced that they are expanding their anti-poaching Connected Conservation programme into Zambia, Kenya, and Mozambique to continue protecting rhino, as well as help fight the war on the startling numbers of African savanna elephant being poached. Kenya: Rain, Rain, Rain Everywhere, But No Water Is Being Harvested

Nairobians are questioning why rain water is not being harvested in dams to offer reprieve during the constant water rationings.

Those on Twitter shared videos of the floods and illustrations on how the run-off water could be harvested.

Some however stated the need for the run-off water to be purified urging Nairobians not to litter so as to have harvestable water.

The Meteorological Department on Monday issued a floods warning to Nairobi residents.

Did climate change help modern humans emerge?

Environment changes transformed early humans, who learned how to use lighter tools, hunt new kinds of animals and communicate with other groups.

At this Olorgesailie Basin excavation site, the Smithsonian team discovered key artifacts and pigments. Fossil bones found at the site also showed that a significant change in the kinds of animals in this region occurred around the same time as the transitions in human behavior.
