South Africa participates in ACP ministerial meeting

Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies and his deputy Bulelani Magwanishe will today participate in the 20th African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) ministerial meeting in Belgium.

The ACP Ministerial Committee and the 15th Joint ACP-European Union (EU) Ministerial Trade Committee meeting (JMTC) gets underway in Brussels today.

This week’s JMTC will exchange views on the future of multilateralism in light of recent pronouncements by some major global trade players, bearing in mind the redrawing of international trade partnerships, said the Department of Trade and Industry (dti) on Wednesday.

SADC looks to diversification to grow regional economy

Partnering with the private sector will unlock avenues that southern African governments alone cannot attain, says President Jacob Zuma.

“The diversification of our economies and industrialisation will ultimately put the region on its rightful path as a global economic player,” said President Jacob Zuma, who is also the chair of the SADC regional bloc, on Tuesday.

Lesotho to receive security support

The SADC Double Troika Summit of Heads of State and Government has approved the deployment of a contingent force comprising of military, security, intelligence and civilian personnel who are expected to support the government of Lesotho.

Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Siyabonga Cwele says very soon South Africans will pay less for data and that changes may be implemented as early as August next year.
