Hefty rise in petrol price for May

Diesel 0.05 percent sulphur will increase by 1c/l, while the price of diesel 0.005 percent sulphur would remain unchanged, the department said in a statement on Sunday.

The wholesale price of illuminating paraffin would increase by 3c/l and the single maximum national retail price (SMNRP) of illuminating paraffin would increase by 4c/l. The maximum retail price for LPGas would increase by 84c/kg.

In a later statement on Sunday, Energy Minister Jeff Radebe said the main reasons for the increased fuel prices were that the rand on average had strengthened slightly against the US dollar from 14.3871 to 14.1401 rand per dollar. The settling of contagion risks from emerging [...]

8 retail display ideas to try in store

Retail displays and visual merchandising are essential in driving attention and conversion in brick-and-mortar retail.

One of the main reasons why people decide to shop in store is to see merchandise in person, and this is all the more reason to design winning retail displays.

Here, Higor Torchia, country manager for Vend in the UK and EMEA, shares tips and examples of visual merchandising done well.

SA’s consumers hit by second-highest fuel prices on record

Less than two weeks before what is set to be the most competitive election of the democratic era, SA’s consumers will be hit by the second-highest fuel prices on record, a little more than 2% off records reached in late 2018.

The price of a litre of unleaded 95 octane petrol would jump 54c to R16.67 on Wednesday, the Central Energy Fund said, citing higher international fuel prices, which countered gains by the rand in the review period between March 29 and April 25. Prices jumped to R17.08 in October 2018.

PETROL TO COST R1 A LITRE MORE FROM TOMORROW, REACHING A RECORD HIGH

The price of petrol will push to a record high from midnight on Tuesday, with the central energy fund (CEF) announcing that under-recovery in August would prompt fuel increases ranging from 99c to R1.79.

The price of unleaded 93 petrol will therefore rise 99c, unleaded 95 R1 and diesel R1.24. Illuminating paraffin will cost an additional R1.04 and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) R1.79.

The Automobile Association has warned that the increases — a record when not factoring in months when new taxes took effect — will be “catastrophic” for motorists.

The Department of Energy had intervened in August’s increase by diverting funds from the state levy, [...]
