Engineered in Africa: ‘We knew the talent was there’

Christina Sass learned at an early age to spot talent in new places. She went on to found Andela, a firm that recruits software engineers in Africa.

One autumn, at the start of a new school term, she found half of her class had been replaced with black students from a much less affluent part of town.

“Busing” children between schools was a policy designed to integrate divided communities, and she remembers it causing “a huge uproar” in the US city of Athens, Georgia where she was growing up.

Local golfer claims the Blue Jacket in Nairobi

A very popular local golfer from Mamelodi has made history last week when he achieved his first success in the Sunshine Series by winning the KCB Karen Masters in Kenya.

Before the start of the KCB Karen Masters in Nairobi, Kenia last week, Toto Thimba told the media that he was going to win the KCB Karen Masters by 10 shots.

On the last day of the tournament, the very popular Mamelodi golfer shot a brilliant final-round 65 for a total 26-under-par 262 to claim his maiden Sunshine Tour victory, albeit by three shots at Karen Country Club in Kenia.

Are Bafana Bafana out of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations

Bafana Bafana‘s last gasp defeat to Morocco on Monday night left South Africa’s hopes of a second Africa Cup of Nations dangling by a thread.

With seconds left on the clock, a scramble in the box saw Morocco grab a 1-0 win that ensured that Bafana Bafana finished third in Group D.

That third place finish leaves Bafana on the bubble, so-to-speak, knowing that the top four teams in that position out of the six groups in total will also progress to the round of 16.

Kipchoge: The fight against pollution is in our hands

Kenyan Eliud Kipchoge, who’s arguably the world’s greatest ever marathon runner, has made a call for people to work together to end pollution.

Kipchoge is backing a UN campaign to tackle air pollution has used World Environment Day to say that “if pollution rises then kids won’t perform well”.

“The fight against pollution is in our hands,” he told the BBC’s Newsday programme. People need to be educated about the dangers and then they will do something about it, he added.
