VOLKSWAGEN ARTEON ARRIVES IN SOUTH AFRICA – OFFICIAL PRICING

Volkswagen has launched its new Arteon sedan in South Africa.

 

The vehicle will be available in three models (the Elegance, the R-Line, and the R-Line 4MOTION), with pricing starting at R599, 900.

 

Its petrol engine boasts an impressive 206 kW (280 PS) with a fuel consumption of 9.2 l/100 km on urban road and 6.2 l/100 km in rural areas.

 

In contrast, you can expect a 176 kW (240 PS) bi-turbo engine from the diesel variant, which promises consumption of 9.2 l/100 km and 5.1 l/100km in non-urban environments.

2018 King of the Hill: Times tumble, Nissan dominates

The 2018 Jaguar Simola Hillclimb delivered an enthralling mix of thrills and excitement, with some stunning new records being set on the Simola Hill – both amongst the competitors’ times, as well as the number of spectators attending the three-day event.

More than 17 000 people attended the ninth edition of the Hillclimb, held in Knysna from 4 to 6 May, about 2000 more than last year’s record-breaking attendance.

Volkswagen’s attractive T-Roc to go topless

Volkswagen has announced it will introduce a drop-top version of its attractive new T-Roc compact SUV.

To be launched in the first half of 2020, it will be VW’s first convertible SUV and continues the German firm’s major model offensive into the sports utility market.

“Volkswagen is evolving into an SUV brand,” said Dr. Herbert Diess, CEO of the Volkswagen brand. “The T-Roc is already setting new standards in the compact SUV segment. With the cabriolet based on the T-Roc, we will be adding a highly emotional model to the range.”

Defective airbags: Bakkies, cars to be recalled in SA

The South African auto industry is affected by ongoing defective Takata airbag recalls.

One of the automakers affected is Toyota with models such as its previous generation Hilux bakkie.

The safety recall is to replace defective and potentially deadly Takata airbag inflators. Toyota SA issued a recall and special service campaign in July 2017.

In 2015, Toyota SA said it would replace airbag inflators in its Corolla, RunX and Yaris models (built from 2002 to 2007) and in its Rav4, Hilux and Fortuners (from July 2003 to December 2005).
