Hofmeyr vows that ‘show will go on’ after George municipality withdraws concert consent

Controversial Afrikaans singer Steve Hofmeyr has vowed that the “show will go on”, after the George Municipality withdrew permission for him to lease out the local hall for his concert next week.

He confirmed to News24 on Thursday that he was consulting lawyers and that the municipality would have to explain their actions.

“The George town council first gives permission and then takes it away,” he said.

“That show will carry on. At the same venue. We are pursuing litigation.”

Who will be hit hardest by land redistribution without compensation

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema again made headlines over the past weekend with controversial comments on land ownership in South Africa.

Speaking at a supporter rally in Johannesburg, Malema said that the land in South Africa was taken by whites through genocide, and would be returned to the people.

In his address, the party leader was careful to word things in a way that did not overtly incite racial tensions, saying that the land should be taken from white people, and given to all (white people included), while maintaining that there should be no disruption to agricultural food supply, and no civil war.

Over the weekend leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema demonstrated, if another demonstration was necessary, that he intends to make the 2019 elections all about race. On Tuesday, the EFF leader will tell Parliament that an ad hoc committee should be established to review and amend section 25 of the Constitution.

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema will be in Parliament on Tuesday, to lead a motion on expropriation of land without compensation.

Eighty-five minutes have been set aside to consider the draft resolution at a plenary sitting of the National Assembly.
