LERENA NOW AIMS AT WORLD GLORY!

REIGNING International Boxing Organisation (IBO) cruiserweight champion Kevin “Two Guns” Lerena wants to become the unified world champion.

But first he wants to take a break after his third round technical knockout victory against an ageing Sefer Seferi at Emperors Palace on Saturday night.

Lerena promised to send the challenger packing and the youthful champion lived up to his pre-fight promise. Now the 27-year-old southpaw intends to take a well-deserved rest after a busy year with three fights in 2019. Kaizer Chiefs return to winning ways after tense AmaZulu showdown

Kaizer Chiefs returned to winning ways after beating AmaZulu 2-0 in a tense league match that was marked by some questionable officiating decisions at King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Second half goals from Leonardo Castro and Khama Billiat were enough to give coach Ernst Middendorp’s charges the all-important victory just days after the visitors’ first defeat of the season against Polokwane City at FNB Stadium last week.

Bantwana demolish Seychelles 28-0 in Cosafa Under-17 mismatch

Oyisa Marhasi scored a first-half double hattrick and substitute Tiffany Kortjie repeated the feat in the second half as South Africa’s Bantwana recorded an incredible 28-0 win over Seychelles in their Cosafa Women’s Under-17 Championship in Port Louis, Mauritius, on Saturday.

Bantwana smash lacklustre Seychelles

Bantwana’s one-sided victory significantly betters the record 17-0 scoreline that the country’s senior women’s side set just over one month ago when they defeated Comoros at the Cosafa Women’s Championship in Port Elizabeth.

Captain Jessica Wade, Nabeelah Galant and Sonika Mzingeli scored hattricks too as 11 players got their names on the scoresheet as South [...]

I reckon that’s the best I can bowl – Kyle Abbott

Former South African fast bowler Kyle Abbott says his record-breaking achievements for Hampshire have “not sunk in yet” as he finished with figures of 17/86 against Somerset in a County Championship match at the Ageas Bowl, Southampton, on Wednesday.

Abbott followed his first-innings 9/40 with 8/46 as Somerset were 144 all out, chasing 281.

His match figures, which helped his team to a 136-run win, are the best by any Hampshire bowler-ever and the fourth best in Championship history going back to 1907.

“It hasn’t quite sunk in. It is pretty incredible. On Tuesday I didn’t think I’d take nine and I didn’t think I’d take eight today. I reckon that is the best I can [...]
