Mlenga wins at the IAAF World U18 Championships Nairobi 2017

Retshidisitswe Mlenga and Tshenolo Lemao traded places as they scooped another gold-silver sprint finish for South Africa at the world under-18 championships in Nairobi, this time in the boys’ 200m.

Mlenga picked up a third gong, a bronze, in the mixed 4x400m relay to ensure SA ended the age-group showpiece top of the medals table with five gold, three silver and three bronze.

China was second and Cuba third, both with five golds, but fewer silvers. SA’s big push had come on Saturday when Breyton Poole took high jump gold while Sokwakhana Zazini and Zeney van der Walt won the boys and girls 400m hurdles.

Simon Sabela Awards Honour Outstanding Filmmakers

Excitement was in the air when people arrived for the Simon Mabhunu Sabela awards in Durban. The awards honour those who brought change to the film industry, like late writer and film producer Sabela who was the first black Film Director.

The awards are held annually and give a platform to KwaZulu-Natal filmmakers while acknowledging their outstanding achievements. Mazwi Xaba from rural Willowfontein in the Midlands has snatched the best documentary award for his film titled ‘Scars of Seven Days’. Durban to host Indian Fashion Show

Fashion designers and stylists to Bollywood stars are preparing to showcase their talent on the Durban runway, at an exclusive event this month.

Haute Events, who will host the fashion show, is set to unveil the creations of 25 designers from India. The show will take place at the Square Boutique Hotel in uMhlanga, from July 28 to 30. Curated by celebrity stylist Eshaa Amiin, other well-known designers include Neeta Lulla, Pia Kataria Puri, Manish Arora, Aza, Gauri and Nainika, Malani Ramani, Rajat Tangri as well as Mayank Anand and Shraddha Nigam among others.
