‘It’s Time Africa Had Its Own Harvard.’ Inside a University Training African Leaders to Solve African Problems

With its modernist buildings, spacious grounds and airy cafeteria packed with young adults slinging backpacks while scrolling through their Instagram feeds, the African Leadership University on the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius looks much like any other college campus. Except, perhaps, when it comes to the library. Here you will find no silent temple to books and knowledge; in fact, the university’s Pure Learning Library has no books at all. 2020 applications for grades 1 and 8 at Gauteng schools to open in May

The applications open on May 13 and close on July 15.

When people think of Artificial Intelligence, they most likely think of scenes from science fiction movies, but in reality, it applies to everyday life from virtual assistants to language translation on Google, says John Quinn, an AI researcher.

Google now wants to position [...]

Transnet launches continent’s first dredging school

The Transnet Maritime School of Excellence (MSoE) has launched the continent’s first dredging school to develop and enhance the competences of new and already employed dredging personnel.

Its mission is to deliver a formal Dredging Education Course of moderate duration, accredited by government.

“The school will first upskill Transnet National PortsAuthority’s (TNPA’s) own dredging personnel. In future, the vision is [...]
