SACP BACKS COMMUNICATIONS MINISTER DLODLO ON TV ENCRYPTION

Last week, Dlodlo confirmed to Eyewitness News that she would follow ANC policy on the issue after the party decided to go for an encrypted system.

JOHANNESBURG – The South African Communist Party (SACP) says it believes Communications Minister Ayanda Dlodlo is doing the right thing in implementing a policy of encrypted digital terrestrial television because it will allow government to provide more services to people.

Springboks draw All Blacks in 2019 Rugby World Cup

The Springboks will have their work cut out for them if they hope to progress to the knockout stages at the 2019 IRB Rugby World Cup. Allister Coetzee’s men were handed what many would consider a nightmarish draw after being grouped with Italy and defending champions New Zealand. All Blacks coach Steve Hansen said their match-up against South Africa in Pool B would now give their annual Rugby Championship games extra meaning.

China seeks more African oil downstream operations

Chinese government officials have hinted that oil companies from the Asian country could purchase more African oil downstream operations, this follows China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation’s (Sinopec) purchase last month of a controlling stake in Chevron’s southern African subsidiary, Caltex.

Sinopec paid $900m for Chevron equity in the Chevron South Africa (CSA) refinery in Cape Town, oil storage facilities, a lubricants factory in Durban and the Caltex service station distribution network across South Africa and Botswana.
