Two new helicopters start operating at Durban, Richards Bay ports

Two new helicopters valued at R250-million went into service on August 31 at the Durban and Richards Bay ports, replacing helicopters that were at the end of their lifecycle.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) acquired the Italy-manufactured Leonardo AgustaWestland 109SP helicopters under the Transnet Market Demand Strategy and its fleet renewal programme.

The programme seeks to improve operational efficiency and safety in the ports.

The helicopters will service the KwaZulu-Natal ports, where they will transfer marine pilots onto and off visiting ships for vessels to be guided in safely and efficiently.

Spring chicken in a pot

1 tbsp olive oil 1 onion, chopped 500g boneless, skinless chicken thigh 300g small new potato 425ml low-salt vegetable stock (such as Kallo low-salt vegetable stock cubes) 350g broccoli, cut into small florets 350g spring green, shredded 140g petits pois bunch spring onion, sliced 2 tbsp pesto

Heat the oil in a large, heavy pan. Add the onion, gently fry for 5 mins until softened, add the chicken, then fry until lightly coloured. Cape Epic 2020 route analysis

If you have entered the 2020 Cape Epic, there are now full details of the race route to start amplifying your training anxiety.

Organisers of the world’s most prestigious mountain bike race have revealed the 2020 Cape Epic route and although it has less climbing than 2019, the overall distance is longer.

The new route starts like many previous Cape Epic races, on the slopes of Table Mountain, with a prologue on the steep trails which crisscross the famous landscape’s lower face.
