Manyonga and Samaai carry South Africa’s hopes in Lausanne

Long jumpers Luvo Manyonga and Ruswahl Samaai will carry the hopes of South Africa at the IAAF Diamond League event in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The Lausanne meeting takes place on Friday 5 July and Manyonga and Samaai are the only South Africans entered in Diamond League events. Long jump is not the most TV-friendly activity, with individual jumps shown between other events. Viewers should be aware that Long jump starts at 20:45 SAST but not every jump will be broadcast. Live results are available here.

MEC Basikopo Makamu said yesterday his department has set aside R8.24 million for the construction of RDP houses.

Nearly 7,000 poor families who have never owned a house of their own will soon have a roof over their heads, following a financial injection by the Limpopo cooperative governance, housing and traditional affairs department.

MEC Basikopo Makamu said yesterday his department has set aside R8.24 million for the construction of RDP houses.

Most of the houses would be built in far-flung rural areas of the province, as the majority of poor people lived in rural areas, Makamu said.
