HUAWEI P20 IS A HIT WITH SA CONSUMERS

] Chinese cellphone giant Huawei said on Monday that its new P20 devices had shattered sales records in South Africa, with sales of this range increasing by 60 percent in six weeks after release compared to their predecessor, the Huawei P10 series.

Likun Zhao, vice president of Huawei consumer business group Southern Africa, said the Huawei P series has established itself as the benchmark of exquisite design and best-in-class photography. 

“With the P20 series Huawei has brought to market devices that revolutionise the use of innovative technology and premium design, making them some of the most desirable smartphones on the planet,” Zhao said.

MPHO POPPS & OTHER AMAZING #SAMAS24 MOMENTS

The annual South African Music Awards (Samas) was like the candy shop of entertainment, so many flavours and so many different sweets to cater for different people, we had our favourite moments and at the very top, was Mpho Popps’ hosting skills.

What a host!

In addition to the usual artist friendly rivalry and all the other nice things that sets Twitter on fire like outfits… (cc. Riky Rick), Mpho Popps just did the damn thing and was a definite highlight of the night.

While there are probably a couple of favourable moments that the Samas gifted us with, these were the top five.

SPRINGBOKS SLUMP TO SEVENTH IN WORLD RANKINGS

The Springboks have dropped to No 7 in the World Rugby rankings following their 22-20 defeat against Wales in Washington DC on Saturday.

South Africa were ranked sixth before this one-off Test, sandwiched between fifth-placed Scotland and Wales in seventh.

However, the two-point loss to Wales sees the Springboks docked 1.04 rating points from 83.81 to 82.77 and relegated to seventh.

Wales gained a 1.04 points increase, enough to climb two places from seventh to fifth, above South Africa and Scotland.

The rest of the top 10 remain unchanged.

FOUR AIRPORTS TO BE RENAMED ‘AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

The Department of Transport and Airports Company South Africa (Acsa) will implement the new names of four airports as “soon as possible” following public comment.

Acsa said Cape Town International Airport, East London Airport, Port Elizabeth International Airport and Kimberley Airport would be renamed as part of the government’s Transformation of Heritage Landscape programme.

The public has until Wednesday to comment.

The renaming of Cape Town International Airport has been in the spotlight since the funeral of Struggle icon Winnie Madikizela-Mandela at Orlando Stadium, when EFF leader Julius Malema said it should be named after her.
