Khune’s distribution best in the world‚ says Bafana coach

If Itumeleng Khune is not the best distributing goalkeeper in the world‚ then he is at least the best Bafana Bafana coach Stuart Baxter has seen.

Never mind the ability to control his area better than any other goalkeeper in South Africa‚ as displayed again as Khune made a telling return from injury in Bafana’s 3-1 World Cup qualifying victory against Burkina Faso at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

And never mind that he makes better saves too.

Mbalula asks for SANDF’s help to combat crime in Gauteng and Western Cape

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula has requested the support of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) to help combat crime in the Western Cape and Gauteng‚ the police ministry announced on Monday evening.

“Minister Mbalula notes that in recent past South Africa has been engulfed by an insurgence of extremely violent crime that has made communities feel and be unsafe‚” the ministry said.

It added that levels of violence in recent months involved the use of weapons of war in the commission of serious crimes where even innocent bystanders and children had fallen victim of gang-related violent crimes.

Over R1bn collected from SVDP and still counting

The South African Revenue Service (SARS) has collected over R1 billion through the Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme, which closed at the end of August.

“The Revenue Service thanks over 2 000 taxpayers who made use of the Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (SVDP), which closed on 31 August 2017,” said SARS on Tuesday.

The revenue service announced that, thus far, 2018 applications have been tallied. Of this figure, 335 applications have been processed, yielding R1 016 467 286 in revenue.

“Currently the total tax liability stands at R1 182 734 842,” SARS said.

President Zuma to visit Zambia

President Jacob Zuma is later this week expected to undertake a State visit to the Republic of Zambia.

The visit is scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday. The Presidency on Monday said the two Heads of State will officially open the OR Tambo National Heritage site in Zambia on Friday.

President Zuma’s visit to Zambia follows the Zambian President Edgar Lungu’s State Visit to South Africa in December last year.
