Sindi Dlathu bids farewell to Muvhango after 20 long years


Veteran actress Sindi Dlathu is bowing out of SABC2’s popular drama Muvhango after two decades. Dlathu, 43, who plays Thandaza Mokoena, is one of the longest-serving actresses in the show.

She had been part of the drama from its inception. The news of her resignation comes shortly after the drama celebrated its 20th birthday. Muvhango’s first episode was aired in April 1997. Throughout the years, Dlathu has become part of the 3.5million viewers of the show.

NCOP to assess job creation initiatives

The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will this week embark on a week-long programme across the country to assess employment creation initiatives by various sectors of society.

The theme for this biennial provincial week programme is: “Advancing our collective efforts to creating work opportunities for our people”, which will see delegates meeting with the Premiers, Members of the Executive Councils (MECs), the Local Government Association (SALGA), mayors and other relevant stakeholders.

The week will allow the NCOP and legislatures engage directly with citizens on challenges they experience.

King Goodwill Zwelithini hosts Diwali celebration

The sights and sounds of Diwali celebrations filtered through the Linduzulu palace in Nongoma‚ northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday as Zulu monarch King Goodwill Zwelithini hosted the festival of lights for the first time.

But it was not an idea borne from the king’s own mind.

Instead‚ it came at the suggestion of businessman Ishwar Ramlutchman – a man who‚ despite a dodgy past‚ shares a perhaps surprisingly close relationship with Zwelithini.

Tau pleased with crucial Bafana Bafana victory

Bafana Bafana forward Percy Tau admits the 3-1 victory over Burkina Faso in front of a subdued FNB Stadium crowd on Saturday was a perfect performance.

With an attendance of just over 10 000 in the 95 000-seater capacity venue, South Africa raced into a three-goal lead before the break in the vital World Cup qualifier.
