HHP teams up with lifelong icon Leee John

Hip-hop star HHP could not contain his excitement when he met his idol Leee John of the UK group Imagination yesterday.

HHP sampled the band’s 1980s single Music and Lights and earned himself a hip-hop classic that cemented his place as a trusted Motswako hitmaker. And now the two will perform the song together at the upcoming DStv Delicious Festival in Kyalami on Saturday and Sunday.

Happy Teachers’ Day

President Jacob Zuma has wished all teachers a happy Teachers’ Day as the world celebrates World Teachers’ Day.

“We honour and value our teachers’ immense contribution and dedication to deliver quality education and shape our future as a nation.

“Let’s continue to support, empower and provide the necessary tools to our teachers in order for them to thrive in their profession. On behalf of government, we wish all our teachers a happy and productive World Teachers’ Day,” said President Zuma on Thursday.

JSE backs Premier Business Awards

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) has confirmed its support for the SA Premier Business Awards that will be hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry.

“The JSE lending its name as a sponsor elevates the Awards from their inaugural event in 2013 to what they represent today. The conferring of a South African Premier Business Award adds credibility and enhances the exposure in their market of the sector winners,” said the department’s Director-General Lionel October.

44 SA beaches awarded Blue Flag status

Tourism Minister Tokozile Xasa has applauded the 44 beaches that have obtained full Blue Flag status at a beach certification programme held at Dolphin Beach, Jeffreys Bay, in the Eastern Cape.

“We are re-awarding Blue Flag status to some of the beaches that lost their blue flag status in the 2016/17 season.

“I would like to attribute this achievement to the Department’s Blue Flag Beach Steward project, which places young people on these beaches to maintain their Blue Flag standards,” said Minister Xasa.
