Apple reaches an agreement to final terms for Toshiba bid

Apple Inc. has agreed to terms with Bain Capital in the private equity firm’s 2 trillion yen ($18 billion) bid for Toshiba Corp.’s memory chip unit, paving the way for a final agreement announcement as soon as Thursday, according to people familiar with the matter.

Apple is part of a consortium of partners Bain has assembled for the offer aimed at resolving a contentious auction that has stretched over eight months, said the people, asking not to be identified because the matter isn’t public. The formal announcement may slip given Toshiba’s track record of missing deadlines, they said. Dell Inc. and SK Hynix Inc. are also providing financial support.

Boks ‘hungry’ to bounce back for Wallabies contest

Springboks backline coach Franco Smith says the manner in which the South Africans bounce back on Saturday against the Wallabies would demonstrate the character of the current team.

Speaking to media at the team hotel in Bloemfontein on Tuesday, Smith said a vital part of the Springboks’ turnaround strategy this coming weekend will be to prioritise and protect possession against a quality Wallabies side in Bloemfontein.

President Zuma to open classrooms & library at Adams College

President Jacob Zuma is expected to open newly built classrooms and a library at Adams College in Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal.

In 2016, the President officiated the sod turning ceremony signalling the construction of the classes and library. The new facilities realign the renowned learning institute to its ten year vision to revitalise, redevelop and reposition Adams College as a premier institution for future generations.

Adams College was founded in 1853 in Amanzimtoti, just over 32km south of Durban, by an American missionary.

South African Thuso Mbedu scores International Emmy nomination

Television starlet Thuso Mbedu has just scored an International Emmy Awards nomination.

The 23-year-old actress is nodded for her role as young heroine Winnie in Mzansi Magic drama Is’thunzi. Mbedu will compete against Brazilian actress Adriana Esteves, English goddess Anna Friel and German star Sonja Gerhardt in the “Best Performance by an Actress” category.
