Trevor Noah is getting a new TV show in SA

Comedian and The Daily Show host Trevor Noah is reteaming with M-Net (DStv 101) and will be doing a 13-part TV series set for broadcast in 2018.

The current working title of the show is Trevor Noah Presents … in which he will showcase upcoming young comedians in South Africa. The 33-year-old is back in South Africa to do a new stand-up show in Johannesburg and Durban during his holiday from his Daily Show job.

Western Cape heavy rains bring some relief

The Department of Water and Sanitation says Western Cape farmers can only hope for more rains during this rainy season to enable them to harvest more crops before the rains begin to wane at the end of October.

A weekly report published by the department this week stated that last week’s heavy rains in the Western Cape brought some relief to locals, as dam levels increased from 27.3% to 28.2%, raising water storage in the province to 475.5 cubic metres.

“Sporadic drizzles continued to pound Cape Town and outlying areas on Tuesday and Wednesday, raising hopes that the situation may improve in the next few days,” the report said.

South African construction prices forecast to rise by 7.4 per cent in 2017

MMQSMace, a leading South African cost consultancy business, and Stellenbosch University’s Bureau for Economic Research (BER) have forecast a South African construction tender price growth of 7.4 per cent in 2017, including 5.3 per cent inflation, and an 8.8 per cent increase in 2018, including 5.1 per cent inflation

Analysis shows that the construction sector in South Africa is suffering amid the country’s wider economic turmoil. Optimism in the sector is low, with industry respondents reporting negative confidence levels not seen since the 2008/9 economic downturn.

President Zuma to host Liberian President

President Jacob Zuma will on Friday host Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for a State visit to South Africa.

The visit, which is an important vehicle for economic growth and cooperation between the two countries, will further contribute to strengthening intra-trade relations in the continent of Africa.

South Africa and Liberia maintain good diplomatic and political relations since the attainment of freedom and democracy in South Africa. The two countries have since signed a General Cooperation Agreement and the Memorandum of Understanding on Economic and Technical Cooperation.
