Minister Brown urges youth to study maths, science

Pretoria – Public Enterprises Minister Lynne Brown has urged the youth of Mokgalwana village in the North West to study maths and science.

“The message is simple: study maths and science. Our State-owned companies (SOCs) need young people with those skills,” she said.

Minister Brown visited the village on Monday, where she handed over a multipurpose community centre in Mokgalwana, Northam.

The Minister said the country’s SOCs are in need of pilots, engineers, accountants and lawyers, among others.

Lamborghini breaks another record

Just weeks after beating the all-time fastest lap around the Nurburgring for a production car, Italian supercar company Lamborghini has announced the best sales results in its 54-year history.

Standard production Lamborghinis may well cost between $180,000 and $500,000 and take over a month to hand assemble, yet the company has managed to sell 3,457 cars over the past calendar year — a 7% increase on 2015’s total and an all-time record.

Some 2,353 V10-engined Huracán models were snapped up in 2016 and 1,104 examples of its much bigger, much rarer and much more expensive V12 brother, the Aventador, also found new homes.
